Live Peace 24/7 Seniors Home Care Corp.

For many seniors, foot care quietly slips down the list. Nails get thicker and harder to reach, flexibility and eyesight change, and getting to a clinic takes real effort. A mobile foot care visit brings a licensed and certified foot care specialist to your home instead.

If you have never had one, it’s natural to wonder what actually happens. Here is what to expect, from the phone call to the moisturizer at the end.

The short version

A mobile foot care visit, sometimes called a medical pedicure, is an appointment where a licensed and certified foot care specialist comes to your home to assess your feet and care for your nails and skin. A LivePeace visit usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. Your first visit begins with a comprehensive foot assessment, with no separate assessment fee, and finishes with moisturizer, a gentle foot massage and personalized foot care advice. All you need is a comfortable chair and good light.

Before the visit: booking and getting ready

Call 604-442-1746 or send us a message. Tell us who the visit is for and what has been bothering them, and we will find a time that suits. Visits can be one-time or recurring.

There is almost nothing to prepare. Have a comfortable chair and a well-lit area ready, and your specialist brings all the necessary equipment.

Packages are paid in advance, and regular recurring services may be paid after each visit. We accept e-transfer or cheque.

What happens during a mobile foot care visit?

Every person’s feet are different, so your specialist adjusts the visit to what you need. Our foot care page lists nine care steps; here they are grouped into six stages, in the usual order:

  1. A comprehensive foot assessment

Your specialist begins by looking carefully at your feet and nails. This assessment helps decide which of the services below are appropriate for you. At your first visit, it is part of the visit price, with no separate assessment fee.

  2. Foot soak and cleaning

When appropriate, your feet are soaked to soften the skin and nails, then your feet and toenails are cleaned.

  3. Nail care

Nails are trimmed and filed. If you have thick nails, your specialist cares for those too, and where appropriate, ingrown and fungal nails are addressed as well.

  4. Skin care

Calluses and corns are reduced, and dry skin is treated so your feet feel more comfortable in shoes and when walking.

  5. Moisturizer and a gentle foot massage

The visit finishes with lotion and a gentle massage, a calm way to end the appointment.

  6. Personalized foot care education

Before leaving, your specialist shares foot care tips for between visits. If something needs a doctor’s or podiatrist’s attention, we make the referral easy.

When should you see a doctor instead?

Foot care keeps feet comfortable and helps you stay mobile, but it does not replace medical care. Contact your doctor or podiatrist promptly if you notice:

  • A sore or wound that is slow to heal
  • New redness, warmth or swelling
  • Sudden pain, or a change in colour or feeling in your feet

If you or a loved one has diabetes, daily foot checks matter even more. HealthLink BC has guidance on taking care of your feet when you have diabetes, and Diabetes Canada offers more information. Your care team can advise on what is right for you. This article is general information, not medical advice.

Support that goes beyond foot care

Many families start with foot care and find they would welcome help with other things too. LivePeace also provides companion care, personal care, errand and escort services and chronic illness care.
